Our Approach to Safety

At Hinterland Heavy, our leadership team and workforce are fully committed to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors, and stakeholders engaged with our operations. We prioritise the prevention of work-related injuries and illnesses by actively identifying and managing risks. Through the ongoing development and improvement of our Occupational Health and Safety Management System, we are dedicated to eliminating hazards and reducing OH&S risks across all facets of the business.

Our Objectives 

The management and team at Hinterland Heavy are committed to and will actively work to:

  • Prevent and eliminate work-related injuries and illnesses;

  • Identify, assess, and control workplace hazards and risks to ensure a safe and healthy working environment;

  • Promote clear and effective communication to support the implementation and maintenance of safe work systems.

Systems and Processes

As part of Hinterland Heavy’s commitment to effective systems and processes, top management is dedicated to the following actions:

  • Ensure active consultation and participation of workers and, where applicable, their representatives in matters relating to this policy, as well as all processes, procedures, and activities tied to the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS);

  • Maintain this policy as documented information, ensuring it remains accessible to all relevant and interested parties;

  • Establish, monitor, and review measurable OH&S objectives and targets to support the prevention of work-related injuries and ill health;

  • Hold regular management review meetings to evaluate and maintain appropriate control over the OHSMS;

  • Report, investigate, and implement corrective actions for all workplace incidents to prevent recurrence;

  • Identify, assess, and comply with all applicable legal and other OH&S obligations relevant to our operations;

  • Continuously improve our health and safety performance and the effectiveness of our OHSMS through ongoing monitoring and evaluation;

  • Conduct periodic audits of key occupational health and safety processes to drive continual improvement across the organisation;

  • Maintain conformance and certification to ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems; and

  • Review this policy annually to ensure its ongoing relevance and effectiveness.
